Ziger|Snead worked with University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) to transform an outdated and poorly used academic space on their campus into new offices and shared facilities for three student services departments:  Academic Advising, the Registrar’s Office and Meyerhoff Scholars. The project involved the total interior demolition and renovation of the original 9,000 sf of classroom and library space on the second floor of Wing “B” in Sherman Hall.

As continuing operations of the rest of the building were necessary throughout the construction period, the design and construction sequences were carefully coordinated with UMBC and the Construction Manager to minimize disruptions and ensure student and faculty safety. Budget and schedule constraints were successfully managed to complete the project on time and within a very limited budget.
