The product of the month (July 2007) from Architectural Record is Lace Fence. The fencing is designed by Dutch architecture firm Demakersvan and fabricated in India by IDFence in Bangalore. The idea stemmed from designer Joep Verhoeven's travels where he noticed patterned fence-mending techniques and wondered how those ideas could be brought to a larger market. The idea has taken off, especially with architects, retailers, gallery owners and other creative types. The fences are essentially just a modification of the ubiquitous chain link fence and is still appropriate from safety and durability standpoints. The fences cost approximately $105-$187 per square meter (11sq. ft.).
More information can be found at the Demakersvan website.
